Georgina Pins and Needles

A Brief History

Our first meeting was September 2008 with 16 members.  Within our first year, we added other needle crafters, so that we might all learn from each other.

Our first workshop was in September 2008 and our first newsletter, was October 2008.

Before the end of our first year, members voted to change the name from Georgina Quilters Guild to Georgina Pins and Needles.

Each year membership has grown and we now have approximately 35 members.

Our outreach projects have included shopping bags for the food bank, blankets and quilts for Hospice Georgina and Southlake Regional Hospital, infant items for the Rose of Sharon, hats and mitts for the Salvation Army and many local group homes.  Many of our members have also participated in community outreach events such as pillow cases and quilts to the Dalton Road fire victims, quilts to the tsunami victims in Japan and to several local illness and accident victims.

Enthusiasm continues to be high with workshops, shop hops, yarn crawls, outreach and yearly challenges, monthly speakers and presentations.

New members are welcome!  Won’t you join us?
